COURSE DESCRIPTION

The idea is understanding the expressive potential that lies beneath the heart of Graphic Design by analysing the traditional techniques and the most innovative and contemporary ones. More in general, the course explores the all-changing world of Graphic Design and then takes a closer look at the magazine section. It observes the virtual projects created through the innovative technique of Augmented Reality and analyzes the project and creative itinerary of Domus, the best-known Italian magazine abroad. The students will be assigned a brief that they will have to develop in all its esthetical and communicative components.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

The course aims to analyse the development of the creative process that gives birth to any kind of Design project. In the meantime, it will provide students with the critical and technical tools needed to approach to Graphic Design in a mature and conscious way.
The goal is to supply students with the necessary tools to have a global vision of the different areas Graphic Design operates in and to focus specifically on editorial graphic design. Each student will be assigned a project to work on individually, that will give them the chance to put in practice what they learned through the lessons. Facing a brief in its entire process and having the opportunity to share and discuss the work in class will help the students mature a precise working method together with a critical approach towards themselves and the others.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

The course is oriented towards curious newcomers to the field of visual communication who wish to acquire a fundamental knowledge base and understanding of the medium, giving the possibility to establish a starting point for further interest within the graphic medium. A personal laptop is strongly recommended.
